If you are here at this blog, you probably received an invitation in the mail recently. Or, if you didn’t, perhaps you are here because you did a web search for “what martini goes best with my bikini.” However you got here, welcome!
The invitation I sent to 76 of my people is a hard copy stated intention to the Universe that I intend to grow to 100 years old, at least. And I intend to have an amazing party with all my people. Hence, I sent out Save The Date invitations. If you didn’t get an invitation, it’s probably because I don’t have your address or we aren’t friends … YET. Save the date anyway: October 17 2070.
So why am I doing this blog? When I think of the party and how amazing it is going to be when it happens, won’t it be cool to look back to all the stories that got us there? I am writing down these stories now as a way of pre-loading the reflection. I want someone to be able to have the material ready and at hand when they say “so, you planned this party 45 years ago?” And I will say “Yup. Go read the proof. Learn the lessons. And pour me another martini.”
I have been doing a lot of thinking about what it’s going to take to get to 100. It’s the gym workouts (my husband is currently waiting for me to finish writing this so we can go to the gym), it’s the trips to the nutritionist to get ONE. MORE. SUPPLEMENT. It’s the walk with my friend and her saying “If you’re going to live to 100 you need to keep doing Pilates because core strength and balance are going to be vital.” And also it’s the mindset. I have so much yet to live for and experience along the way. At 55 years old I feel like I have been both shaken (stories of those times coming) AND stirred (those stories coming too) but I am aging with all the perfection of a fine wine or whiskey or cheese or whatever it is that you love that gets better with age. I feel in some ways that I am just getting started.
I have dreams that I still want to manifest and people I want to meet and places I want to go and all of those experiences will add to the ever maturing story of this life. I am excited to see where this goes. I hope that you, dear friend, will follow along. I hope that you will comment and join the conversation. I hope that you will embrace your own life’s opportunities and we can be like kids, meeting in the street of our neighborhood, join hands and skip down the road into our futures together.
This is going to be fun.
